Willis B. Dahl

Willis B. Dahl, age 89, resident of Tolna, ND, died Sunday, August 20, 2023 at the NCHS Care Center in McVille, ND.

Willis Byron Dahl was born November 22, 1933 at the Community Hospital in McVille, ND, the son of Algernon Byron and Vivian Jesse (Willis) Dahl.  Willis grew up in the Tolna/Hamar area where his parents had the family farm.  In March of 1954 Willis joined the Marine Corps in San Diego, CA.  From the fall of 1954 to the fall of 1955, Willis was stationed at Mt. Fugi, Japan.  From 1955 to 1957 he was stationed at Bremerton, WA.  After his honorable discharge, Willis returned to the family farm.  On June 15, 1958 Willis married Vivian Viola Vesey at Norway Lutheran Church, rural Aneta, ND.  Willis and Vivian were united in marriage for 56 years.  From 1957 to 1988 Willis was employed by Alvin H. Dahl Company.  In 1988 Willis purchased a plumbing business as the owner and operator of Tolna Plumbing.  Willis served the areas of Tolna, Pekin, McVille, Kloten, Hamar, and Warwick.  Willis was a very respected business owner for the people he served for 59 years.

Willis will be deeply missed by his 2 daughters, Lori (John) Ternes of Flasher, ND and Cinde Lou (Phil) Earley of Fresno, CA; his son, Steven Byron (Leah Houdek) Dahl of Tolna, ND; 8 grandchildren, Amanda, Michelle, Michael, Tyson, Alec, Traci, Kelly, and Paige; 6 great grandchildren, Jeremy, Brianne, Alexander, Micah, Blaire, and Arlo; brother, Lyle (Carrol) Dahl; and sister, Margy (John) Messner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; his parents, Algernon & Vivian Dahl; and 2 sisters, Sally Messner and Jane Forde.

The Memorial Service for Willis will be held at American Lutheran Church of Tolna, ND, on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the Tolna Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service.
