Wallace “Wally” Duane Johnson, age 85, took his final journey home peacefully on Friday, September 24, 2021, from the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota, ND.
Wally was born March 22, 1936, son of Victor & Olga Johnson of Lakota. Wally grew up in Lakota, graduating from Lakota High School in 1954. He married his high school sweetheart, Sheila Harper, on December 22, 1955. They raised five children in a wonderful home that he had built in Lakota. Wally and Sheila were married for 65 years and were lifelong members of Lakota Lutheran Church. He devoted a lot of his time to the church with choir, Christmas, and Easter projects every year. Wally took over Johnson Construction from his father, Victor, in 1967; in which he made that his life’s work. Working alongside him for many years were his sons, Terry & Cary Johnson, Walt Haugen, and Rodney Stevens. He always enjoyed, and looked forward to, his early morning coffee times with his friends, driving his Ford truck and tinkering at his workshop. Now he can rest in peace with his beloved wife, together forever.
Wally is survived by 5 children, Terry Johnson (Kathy) of Yukon, OK, Cathy Davidson (Kurt) of Yukon, OK, Cary Johnson (Cindy) of Alexandria, MN, Connie Blythe, and Lisa Burtis of Grand Prairie, TX; 3 sisters, Ruth Nelson, Doris McMillan (Bob), and Vicki Pogatshnik (Peter); a brother, Gary Johnson (Shirley); 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, brother Roger, and brother-in-law Clayton Nelson.
