Timothy "Tim" J. Freund

Timothy J. "Tim" Freund, 60, Brocket, ND passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, near Brocket, ND.

Timothy J. "Tim" Freund was born in Cando, ND to John R. "Jack" and Joyce (Sand) Freund on December 14, 1962.  He attended school with his siblings in Cando Public School.  Upon graduation, he attended college at Dakota College at Bottineau and North Dakota State University.  Tim met the love of his life, Barbara "Barb" (Eback) Freund on a blind date set up by her sister and her brother-in-law.  They were united in marriage on November 5, 1988.  Tim worked for Eidsness Farms for 35 years in Brocket, ND.  Tim and Barb raised their 3 children there.  Their children are Kayla (Paul) Teeple of Fargo, ND, Tyler Freund of New Rockford, ND, and Britney (Daniel "Dan") Schmiesing of Fargo, ND.  He was a proud grandpa to one granddaughter, Christine Teeple, with whom he loved to rip through the streets of Brocket on his 4-wheeler.  Tim loved all things hunting, especially going shed hunting with his children.  He also loved to go out shooting bow with his granddaughter and target shooting with his children.  He had a zest for life and loved to tell stories about his life.  He loved to joke around and had plenty of jokes to tell when you were talking to him, especially that "he knows a short-cut" and then would end up stuck.  He also loved his many cats that run the house, along with their dog, Jade.  Tim and Barb loved to spend hours talking, whether it was driving around looking for deer or out in the yard.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Freund and Joyce Freund; and his mother-in-law, Theresia Eback.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years; his three children; his granddaughter; his brother, Patrick "Pat" Freund; his sisters, Natalie (Richard) Dickson, Melissa (Brad) Westphal and Michelle (Matt) Neumann; his father-in-law, Bernhard "Benny" Eback; and his many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass for Tim will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church of Lakota, ND, on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Devils Lake, ND.  Visitation will be held at the Church on Wednesday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue at the Church on Thursday for one hour prior to Mass.
