Terry Braathen, age 81, of Tolna, ND, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at the NCHS Hospital in McVille, ND.

Terrance "Terry" Braathen was born August 4, 1940, in Devils Lake, ND, to Odd C. Braathen and Borghild (Halvorson).  He grew up in Devils Lake but spent much of his youth on his uncle Tory's farm near Tolna.

He was in the Army from 1963 to 1965, and stationed in Germany 1964 to 1965, as aircraft maintenance.  He'd worked a few years at Peavy Lumber prior to the army, and a few years at Young's Auto Parts after.  Then he began driving truck... initially hauling grain locally, then driving coast-to-coast for Melroe Bobcat until 1980.  It was at that time, he started his own livestock and grain hauling business and began farming as well, until officially retiring at the end of 2019.

He married Virginia "Ginny" Olson on December 19, 1980, in New Rockford, and they were together until he lost her to cancer in 2013.

Terry will be greatly missed by family and friends.  He is survived by his son, Eric (Hannah) Braathen; step-daughters, Tonya Urban and Janie (Marlon) Steiner; his granddaughters, Blake Braathen, Dara Sanqui-Braathen, Angela (Kevin) Storm, and April (Jason) Kraft; 3 great-grandchildren, Payton Storm, Madelynne Storm, and Brynlea Kraft; his sister, Barbara (Ron) Peterson; half-brother, Ordeen (John) Braathen; half-sister, ORhonda (Richard) Antoine; sister-in-law, Peggy Gudmunson; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ginny; mother, Borghild Lien; father, Odd Braathen; uncles, aunts, and a cousin.

Terry will be honored in a celebration of life to be held in the spring.
