Sheila E. (Harper) Johnson, age 84, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota.
Sheila was born July 4, 1936 in Souris, Manitoba, the daughter of Alfred and Sarah (Crawford) Harper. The family moved to Cando, ND in 1937, then to Lakota, ND in 1947. Sheila grew up there along with her brothers and sister, attending Lakota High School and graduating with the class of 1954. It was there that she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Wallace Johnson. Wally & Sheila were married on December 22, 1955; they were lifelong members of Lakota Lutheran Church. Sheila held a variety of different jobs while raising 5 children, working at Einer Johnson’s law firm in Lakota, secretary at Lakota High School, home daycare, and Benson’s Daycare. Sheila loved to cook & entertain her many friends. She was always willing to help where help was needed. Family & friends will remember Sheila for her kind heart, her laugh, decorating for any and all holidays, coffee parties, and just making everyone feel welcome in her home.
Sheila is survived by her husband of 65 years, Wally Johnson; 5 children, Terry Johnson & his wife Kathy of Yukon, OK, Cathy & her husband Kurt Davidson of Yukon, OK, Cary Johnson & his wife Cindy of Alexandria, MN, Connie Blythe, Lisa Burtis of Grand Prairie, TX; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Alice (Merle) Evenson of Grand Forks, ND; brother, Wayne (Carolyn) Harper of Princeton, MN; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother & his wife, Carmen & Elsie Harper.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Lakota Cemetery, Lakota, ND, on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Lori Pankratz, Pastor of Lakota Lutheran Church.
