Shane H. Burthold

Shane H. Burthold, age 46, resident of Devils Lake, ND, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Devils Lake.

Shane Herbert Burthold was born January 5, 1972 in Anchorage, AK, the son of Ronald Burthold and Alice Marie Tocktoo.  He moved with his father, mother Charline, and 2 sisters to Tolna, ND in 1987.  He attended Tolna High School and graduated in 1990.  While in school he was an honor student and a member of the National Honor Society.  He also played on the Devils Lake / Cando hockey team.  He then went on to attend classes at UND.  Shane chose a career as a chef, as he enjoyed cooking delicious food.  He worked for 9 years at The Ranch, and most recently at The View.  Shane enjoyed spending time with his friends & family, playing darts, golfing, hunting, fishing, and watching hockey.  His favorite sports teams were the NY Rangers, MN Vikings, MN Twins, and KC Royals, but his favorite athlete was Bo Jackson.  His pastimes included watching movies and the Food Network, specifically Guy Fieri.  Shane was a member of the Pekin Lutheran Church.

Shane will be deeply missed by the love of his life, Debra Schafer of Devils Lake; his daughter, Danielle Burthold-Thorpe of Bloomington, MN; his parents, Alice Marie Tocktoo of Anchorage, AK, Ron (Margo) Burthold of Pekin, ND, and Charline Burthold of Devils Lake; his grandmother, Astrid Burthold of McVille, ND; 2 sisters, Darci (Chris) Peters of Cheyenne, WY and Malia St. Andre of Eielson AFB, AK; half-sister, Chaya “Shirley” Seidman of Lakewood, NJ; half-brother, Leland Collins of Palmer, AK; his nieces & nephews, Whitney (Tanner) Hughey, Samantha St. Andre, Calli Peters, Jonathon St. Andre, Kai St. Andre, and Kalani St. Andre; a great nephew, Calvin Hughey; and his cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Miles Burthold, Charles & Charlene Kamai, and Rose Abihai; great-grandparents, Louis & Pearl Johnson and Herbert & Clara Burthold; uncle, Scott Burthold; aunt, Roselie Weaver; and a niece, Kalea St. Andre.

The Funeral Service will be held at American Lutheran Church, Tolna, ND, on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the spring at the Pekin Cemetery, Pekin, ND.  Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Sunday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue at the church on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
