Roy C. Dion

Roy C. Dion, age 83, resident of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Lakota, ND, died Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia in Grand Forks.

Roy Charles Dion was born November 19, 1939 in Lakota, ND, the son of Luke and Martha (Kaliff) Dion.  He was raised in Lakota and attended school there.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 9, 1962 and was honorably discharged on December 7, 1963.  Roy married Glenna Mae Evenson on June 27, 1970.  Roy worked at the Knetter Cheese Plant in Lakota until it closed.  He continued working in the area until moving to Grand Forks in 1995.  He worked for Simplot as a form operator until his retirement.  He moved to Valley Senior Living in 2021.

Roy is survived by his son, Wayne (Bernadette) Dion of Grand Forks; a granddaughter, Aubrianna of Detroit Lakes, MN; 3 brothers, Peter (J.D.), Wesley, and Kurtis (Lori); 5 sisters, Gail (Don) Hanson, Betty Legacie, Lela (Dan) Korstad Simpson, Vicki Twining, and Peggy (Ron) Eversvik; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna; a son, Michael; a brother, Anthony; and 2 sisters, Carolyn Dion and Shirley Olson.

A Graveside Service for Roy and his son, Michael, will be held at the Lakota Cemetery, Lakota, ND, on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
