Ronald Gene Dahl, 67, passed away at his home on December 5, 2020 from natural causes with his loyal black lab companion Indy by his side.
Ron was born on June 23, 1953 at the Cooperstown Hospital, the son of Clinton and Evelyn (Flick) Dahl. Ron attended school in Cooperstown and a VoTech school in Fargo. He returned home and began farming and raising cattle. Throughout his life he enjoyed working on anything with a motor, especially cars.
Ron was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan. It was not uncommon for him to do some arm chair quarterbacking during the Vikings games. Ron enjoyed hunting through the years and carried on the love of fishing passed on to him by his grandfathers and mother. This led to many fishing expeditions with his fishing buddies at Lake of the Woods where many tall fishing tales were shared. In recent years, he was a regular attendee for morning coffee and County updates at the Town and Country Co-op.
Ron is survived by his sister Connie (John) Swenson, Cooperstown, ND; step-daughter Jennifer Huffman; and his loyal black lab companion Indy.
We want to thank Darcy for adopting Indy – Ron would be so grateful! We would also like to thank Andy and his boys, Blaine, and the Bendickson boys for helping Ron at the farm. And last, but not least, Joel for calling Ron daily to keep up his spirits.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Virgil Gotfredson.
A memorial service will be held in the spring at the Hartman Memorial Cemetery by Sutton, followed by a gathering to remember and celebrate Ron’s life at a place to be determined.
