Robert A. Somerville

Robert A. Somerville, age 76, resident of rural Tolna, ND, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

Robert Alan Somerville was born September 26, 1946 in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Robert L. and Clarice L. (White) Somerville.  He graduated from McHenry High School in 1964.  He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps January 11, 1966 and was honorably discharged on January 10, 1970 with the rank of Sergeant.  Bob returned to North Dakota and farmed in Eddy County for many years.  He then moved to California and provided handyman services.  After a few years he returned to the area and worked as a heavy equipment operator for a road construction company.  Upon his retirement, Bob continued his handyman services by helping his friends and neighbors.

Bob is survived by his wife, Debbie; 3 daughters, Heather, Jennifer, and Sara; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Dean (Peggy); 2 sisters, Roberta (LeRoy) Johnson and Annola (Lyle) Black; 4 step-children, Dusty, Adam, Ashley, and Joe; and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Clarice; and his son, Samuel.

The Funeral Service will be held at New Life Fellowship, rural Hamar, ND, on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.  Visitation will be held at New Life Fellowship on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.  Interment will be at the Fargo National Cemetery, rural Harwood, ND, on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m..
