Marvin Massey

Marvin Massey, age 89, resident of Pekin, ND, died Friday, April 29, 2022 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Floyd Marvin Massey was born in Iroquois, SD, to Floyd and Sarah (Namanny) Massey on September 11, 1932.  When he was young the family moved to Midland, SD.  Marvin attended grade school in a country school and graduated from Midland High School in 1951.  He was doing ranch hand work until he was drafted into the army and served until 1955.  While working in Twin Valley, MN, he met Dawne Morken and they were married on November 2, 1958.  They first lived in South Dakota, where Marvin worked in a car garage, then worked with a company that built missile silos, and eventually went to work with a tire company in Billings, MT, where they lived until Marvin retired in 2003.  Marvin and Dawne raised three children: Faith, Scott, and Robin.  After retirement they relocated to Pekin, ND, Dawne’s hometown.  Marvin loved mowing lawns on his garden tractor.  In 2019 he was invited to participate in the Veterans Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.  He was so proud to be included.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and daughter, Faith (Massey) Fish.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dawne; sons, Scott and Robin (Peggy), both of Brandon, SD, grandchildren, Shawn (Carrie) Fish, Cassie Fish, Aleesa Kaye Massey; great grandson, Gavin Fish; sister, Lois Elrod; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will be in the spring at the Pekin Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
