Marjorie Y. Kouba, age 82, resident of Michigan, ND, died Thursday, March 26, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Larimore, ND.
Marjorie Yvonne Elton was born January 22, 1938 in Park River, ND, the daughter of Gilman and Alma (Berg) Elton. She graduated High School in Adams, ND, and continued her education at Mayville State University, graduating with a Teaching Certificate. Marjorie married Daniel E. Kouba on June 2, 1960 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Lomice, rural Lawton, ND. Marjorie taught for 5 years after college, until she decided to stay home to help on the farm and raise their children. In later years, she enjoyed substitute teaching at Fordville-Lankin, Adams, and Edmore. The couple lived on the family farm for 40 years where Margie worked with Daniel side by side. She was a lifelong member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and Altar Society, as well as the Busy Fingers Homemaker Club. She served as an officer in both of these organizations. Margie loved to play cards, enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas with Daniel, and was an excellent baker. Daniel taught Margie to polka dance in the barn while milking cows. She became an excellent polka dancer, as she and Daniel both enjoyed attending many dancing events. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Margie and Daniel would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 2nd.
Margie will be deeply missed by her husband, Daniel E. Kouba; 3 children, Lynn Kouba of Adams, ND, Kristi (Gary) Brintnell of Fordville, ND, and Cory (Patti) Kouba of Lankin, ND; grandchildren, Brian (Nicole) Brintnell, Nathan (Breanna) Brintnell, Kaitlyn Brintnell, Madysen Kouba, and McKenzie Kouba; great grandchildren, Levi Brintnell and Lauren Brintnell; step-grandchildren, Kayla, Courtney, and Derek (Ashley); step-great grandchildren, Kinnley and Mila; 2 sisters, Betty (Leroy) Stensland of Cavalier, ND and Norma Mitzel of Devils Lake, ND; and brother & sister-in-law, Edward & Janice Kouba of Bismarck, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father & mother-in-law, Edward & Geneva Kouba; sister & brother-in-law, Gladys & Ellsworth Udby; and brother-in-law, Frank Mitzel.
All friends and neighbors are invited to celebrate the Funeral Mass for Marjorie which will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church of Lakota, ND, on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the WFL-Kosobud Cemetery, rural Lankin, ND. Visitation will be held at the Church on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
