Marion Stockeland

Marion Stockeland, formerly of Binford, ND entered glory and the presence of her Savior on September 29, 2020 in Rochester, MN at the age of 96. 

Marion was born in Sharlow Township, Stutsman County, ND on July 21, 1924.  She married Thomas Stockeland of Luverne, ND on April 7, 1945.  They raised six children; the late Pamela (Craig) Sturlaugson of Coon Rapids, MN, David (Ceres) of Jeremie, HAITI, Gayland (Alesia) of Valley Springs, CA, Neal (Betty) of Fargo, ND, Linnea (Nathan) Aaland of Rochester, MN,  and Lane (Valerie) of Franklin, TN. They were blessed with 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  Marion was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Olena Bowder, brothers Aldon and Franklin Bowder, her grandson Michael Stockeland, her daughter, Pamela Sturlaugson, and great-grandchildren Hannah Stockeland and Anthony Sanchez.

Marion’s life was centered around serving her Lord, her family, and her community. Early on she helped Tom with the farm until they moved into Binford where they ran the meat locker. She was active in leading Cub Scouts, 4-H club, and teaching Sunday School and the Bethel Bible Series at church. She worked many hours in the summertime at Red Willow Resort; she sold World Book Encyclopedia; covered the countryside doing census work; was a well-known seamstress in the community; and eventually settled into her role as bookkeeper for Farmers Union Co-op.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, October 3rd at the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel in Cooperstown, ND. Visitation 10am with an informal testimony service at 11am. An extended graveside service, to which all are welcome and encouraged to attend, will take place at 1pm at Bethany Cemetery in rural Binford, ND.
