LeRoy M. Northagen, age 64, resident of Fordville, ND, died Monday, March 26, 2018 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
LeRoy Melvin Northagen was born February 1, 1954 in Michigan, ND, the son of Melvin and Joyce (Studley) Northagen. He was a graduate of Fordville High School. LeRoy enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on March 30, 1973. He married Jo Pastorek on May 20, 1978 at Pisek, ND. They were stationed at Minot Air Force Base in the fall of 1982. They later moved to Florida, before returning to Fordville in April of 1990. LeRoy retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air National Guard on April 16, 2001 after more than 24 years of service to his country. He later worked construction, carpentry, and custodial jobs. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and managing the Fordville Dam.
LeRoy will be greatly missed by his wife, Jo Northagen of Fordville; a son, Josh (Heather Martinson) Northagen of St. Thomas, ND and his 3 children, Zander, Ashton & Brayden; a daughter, Megan (Josh) Buee of Berthold, ND and her daughter, Sawyer; his mother, Joyce Northagen of Grafton, ND; 3 sisters, Ione (Floyd) Alford of Grand Forks, Reane (James) Daley of Park River, and Paulette Hicks of Grand Forks; 2 brothers, Jonathan (Tami) Northagen and Donald Northagen, both of Fordville; and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brent; his father, Melvin; and an infant brother, Dennis.
The Funeral Service for LeRoy will be held at the Fordville Lutheran Church, Fordville, ND, on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Val Teppo, Pastor of Dahlen Lutheran Church. The organist will be Sylvia Madson and the soloist will be Chantell Aaker. Interment will be private at the ND State Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. The casketbearers will be Marcus Northagen, Andy Daley, Drew Fellman, Lukas Pastorek, Ryan Pastorek, and Nathan Northagen. Military Honors will be conducted by the Grand Forks Air Force Base Honor Guard. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
