Keith E. Paulson

Keith E. Paulson, age 85, resident of Lakota, ND, died Friday, October 6, 2023 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Keith Eugene Paulson was born March 27, 1938 in Michigan, ND.  He was raised there and graduated from Michigan High School.  He married Marlene Wirkus on June 15, 1958.  Keith was a huge horse lover; he raised and broke horses.  In Massachusetts and California he won many champion and reserve champion horse shows.  He had horses most of his life; it was his passion.  Keith would often go to auctions.  Upon his return home, he would open the car door and out would come a pony, a calf, a goat, or even a new puppy; he was an animal lover.  He could Jerry-rig anything to make it work, or get through the day, or finish a job.  He enjoyed rodeos, playing Pinochle, and spending time with his family.  At the loss of Keith a blessing happened, early October 7th his granddaughter, Brittany, gave birth to twin girls, Sariyah & Sienna.  During his career he worked at the Standard Station in Michigan, Boeing in Auburn, WA, Elantic Research in Massachusetts, California, and Arizona, Langton Enterprises at Southam, ND, on their farm & in the shop, Close Construction in Devils Lake, ND, and he retired from Sundeen Farms in Brocket, ND, after 15 years with them.

Keith is survived by a daughter, Denise Davis; 2 sons, Patrick (Amy) Paulson and Kevin (Laura) Paulson; 13 grandchildren, Terry Hoover, Jeremy Hoover, Victoria (Dana) Church, David Paulson, Elizabeth Paulson, Patrick Paulson Jr., Riley Paulson, Allyssa (Lane) Ott, Andrew Paulson, Aaron Paulson, Justin Frazier, Stephanie Frazier, and Ashtyn Frazier; 5 great grandchildren, Brittany Hood (Tashawn Berry), Jeremy Hood, Tristin Crist, Autumn Hoover, and Benjamin Hoover; 4 great-great grandchildren, Lenna Ott, Leo Ott, and Sariyah & Sienna Berry; and a brother, Larry Riley.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anton & Anna Paulson; father, Kermit Paulson; mother, Frances Foley; 2 sons, Dennis and Andrew; daughter, Pamela Paulson; brother, Dan Riley; and son-in-law, Richard Davis.

The Funeral Service for Keith will be held at the Michigan Lutheran Church, Michigan, ND, on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the Michigan Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
