Joan Lindvall Obituary

Joan O. Lindvall, age 93, resident of Cooperstown, ND passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Cooperstown Medical Center.

Joan was born on December 2, 1926 at the family farm near Mapes, ND the eldest child of Henry and Emma (Swenseth) Ruud. She was baptized on December 26, 1926 and confirmed on August 17, 1941 in the Center Lutheran Church. Joan attended country school through the 8th grade. She married John Lindvall on October 22, 1947 at the family farm. After their marriage the couple continued to live and farm near McVille. During this time she could be found helping on the farm, tending to the garden or busy canning food. In 1975 they moved into McVille. They spent a few winters in Texas and several in Arizona before John passed away on February 12, 1989. Joan enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing and loved listening to or playing music. Joan spent the past 15 years in Cooperstown before becoming a resident of the Griggs County Care Center in 2019.

Surviving members of the family include her children James (Paula) Lindvall of Lakota, ND, Janice (Wayne) Fiebiger of Cooperstown, ND, Robert (Verna) Lindvall of McVille, ND, Carol Lindvall of Fargo, ND, Dean Lindvall of McVille, ND, grandchildren James (Deb) Lindvall Jr., Jerome Lindvall, Lori (Brad) Hannesson, Benjamin Lindvall, Nickolas Lindvall, Wendy (Brian) Eaton, Angie (Kyle) Duchsherer, Liza (Travis) Sorteberg and Carrie (Joe) Johnson, great grandchildren Taylor, Tessa, Alyssa, Dawson, Kennedy, Nathan, Brayden, Nolan, Reese, Mason and Walker, sister Arlene (Jerry) Robinson, Lakota, ND and brother Lloyd Ruud, West Fargo, ND along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, infant son David, grandchildren Paul Fiebiger and Timothy Lindvall, sisters Gladys Haugen and Lois Rosenow and brothers Harold Ruud and Elden Ruud.

Funeral services will be private with burial in the Hamlin Cemetery, near McVille, ND. Arrangements with the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.
