Gretta Fahey

Gretta Stene Fahey, age 63, resident of Lakota, ND, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 in her home with her loving family by her side.  Gretta “fought the good fight” in her battle with cancer.

She was born to Obert and Mildred Stene on February 19, 1958 in Long Beach, California.  Gretta married Dennis Fahey on August 13, 1983 in Buena Park, CA.  They lived together in Lake Elsinore, CA for 33 years before returning to North Dakota with their children.  One of many major accomplishments was earning a Master’s Degree while studying Adapted Physical Education, improving the lives of many children throughout the years of her teaching career.  Gretta’s favorite hobbies were to be outside, camping, boating, gardening, and spending time with her animals (llamas, goats, dogs, cats, birds), creating beautiful stained-glass pieces, and sewing for her loved ones.  Gretta will forever be remembered for her green thumb.

Gretta is survived by Dennis (husband), Bridget (daughter), Jesse (son), Randy (brother), Amber (daughter in-love), Lilly (grandchild), Chase (grandchild), Christy (niece), Erik (nephew), Nicholas (nephew), and many more.

Gretta was immensely proud of her family and friends, leaving behind nothing but beautiful memories.  “Everything happens for a reason” was one of Gretta’s favorite sayings that will stay with her family and friends.  Her loved ones are in awe of her bravery and perseverance throughout her journey, and will all strive to carry her memory.

The Memorial Service for Gretta Fahey will be delayed until Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. and will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lakota, ND.
