Glenn Bjornson

Glenn Duane Bjornson, age 85, of rural Tolna (formerly of Grace City), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society, Lakota ND, with his wife of 58 years by his side.

Glenn was born and raised in the McHenry, ND area, the son of Sophus and Irene (Melland) Bjornson. He was a sharpshooter and marksman for the US Army stationed in Korea from 1959-1961.  Glenn married Carolyn (Manz) on August 19, 1961 in Warren, MN and began their lives together in New Rockford, ND where he transported mail to and from Bottineau, ND.

Glenn was trained as a diesel mechanic in Wahpeton, ND and worked for John Deere and International.  He managed the Goulet Farms in Grafton, ND doing mechanic work for Arctic Cat in the winter months.  Glenn worked for the Grace City Public School system for many years. “Mr. B” was a favorite bus driver. He owned a feed grinding business following his retirement from the school. He also enjoyed helping the Blacks, Cudworths and Boeckels doing farm and ranch work. 

He was a devoted husband and father and left a legacy of faith in Jesus for his family.  One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren.

Glenn is survived by his wife Carolyn; children Robby of Manvel, ND, Randy of Bemidji, MN, Karol (Jeff) Kapelle of Tolna, ND, and Kelly (Brad) Barker of New Prague, MN; grandchildren Jordan, Haley (Logan) Nehl, Taylor and Kalli Kapelle, Rachael Barker and Samantha (Samuel) Sarfo; brothers Kenneth (LaVonne), Dennis, Ronald and Gerald Bjornson and sister LuAnn (Dale) Viken.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janice Mastre.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 2 p.m. at New Life Fellowship, rural Hamar, ND.
