Donna "Bunnie" Jean (Peterson) LaPlant

Donna Jean LaPlant “Bunnie”, age 84, of Binford, ND, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center, Northwood, ND.

Bunnie was born on Easter Sunday April 17, 1938 to Alvin and Inga (Johnson) Peterson at Helena, MT. She grew up and attended school in Binford, ND, graduating from Binford High School. On June 13, 1957 she was united in marriage to Darrel LaPlant in Binford and together they raised 4 children.  Bunnie and Darrel owned and operated a meat locker for several years. Bunnie also spent 25 years working in the restaurant business where she enjoyed working and serving others. She was well known for her blue-ribbon embroidery, cooking and baking, especially her potato salad. She was known as “grandma” to nearly everyone she knew. She was an avid NDSU Bison fan and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Bunnie is survived by her 4 children, Tammy (Jeff) Risk, Minot, ND, Sherri (Rory) Teigen, Bowman, ND, Tod (Teri) LaPlant, Binford, ND, and Shane LaPlant, Broadus, MT; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Diane Nelson; and many sisters-in-law, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel; her parents; grandson, Justin Lee; brother, Robert Peterson; and great niece, Annah Chapman.

The Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford, ND, on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the spring of 2023 at the Binford Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
