Dale Anderson Obituary

Dale A. “Scoop” Anderson, age 69, resident of Edmore, ND, died Thursday, February 23, 2023 at First Care Health Center in Park River, ND.

Dale Allen Anderson was born August 10, 1953 in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Ralph H. and Jeaneen A. (Deseth) Anderson.  He attended Edmore School from first grade through graduation.  After graduating from high school, he attended Lake Region College where he got his degree in carpentry.  Dale did carpentry work for many years traveling to different states and constructing various buildings.  He gave that up after Ralph decided to retire from farming and to take over the farm along with adding some new land.  Ralph was a little upset with this because he said, “I’m working harder now being retired than when I was actually farming.” Don’t worry, Ralph missed the farming.  Scoop’s love was hunting and fishing.  He was always telling stories about how much fun he was having with good friend Marlin Egeland.  But for some reason, what happened on the pontoon stayed on the pontoon.  He also had a soft heart for animals, especially dogs.  One of Dale’s pride of the moments came when playing baseball.  He loved telling this story to his brother, more than once, just to get a dig in.  His first at bat he hit a home run and let Danny know, “it was over the center field fence.” And next at bat he hit a ball that bounced once, “over the center field fence.” Then he’d pause for a bit and say, “Did I mention that it was over the center field fence?”  One of his remarkable feats was his perfect attendance in school.  From first grade through graduation, he never missed a day because of sickness.  If no one believes that, his award is still in his room.  Dale loved animals, but he loved young kids more than anything.  And more than anything, he loved to tease.  Anywhere from asking Brett and Tara if they were going to leave enough dumplings in the soup for him to simply playing hide and seek with any kids around.  Scoop never forgot anybody that did a favor for him.  He always acknowledged what that person did and his close friends were very special to him.

Dale was preceded in death by father, Ralph; and mother, Jeaneen.

He is survived by brother, Dan Anderson of Fessenden, ND; nephew, Christopher (Ashley) Anderson of Lincoln, ND; niece, Laura (Tyler) Gigstead along with daughters Nora and RaeLynn of Fargo, ND; aunt, Valerie (Jerry) Leingang of Bismarck; and aunt, Corrine Sanderson of El Sobrante, CA; along with many, many cousins.

May his memory be always with his friends.  And if you listen carefully when thinking about him, you’ll hear, “Oh, did I mention- it was center field?”
