Corine Nesheim passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023 at the age of 96.
Corine was born August 11, 1927 near McVille, ND to Jacob and Ovidia Quanbeck. Corine grew up on the farm and was very involved in the daily duties of farm life. Corine graduated from McVille High School in 1944. After high school Corine attended Mayville State College.
Corine married Vernon Nesheim on May 20, 1946 after Vernon returned from the service in World War II. The two were each other’s lifelong companions and friends. Soon after their marriage they lived in Sacramento, California for several winters, which they thoroughly enjoyed. They lived the remainder of their lives on their beautiful Sheyenne River Valley Farm in rural Pekin, ND.
Corine was a very talented self-taught person. She was a very passionate woman who excelled in all of her many interests. Throughout her life she was a photographer, an artist, a beautiful vocalist, a seamstress, an Arabian horse trainer and breeder, an accomplished cook/baker and a master gardener. Her pride and joy were her expansive gardens on her Sheyenne River Valley Farm. She was well known throughout the state in the plant world and did hours of research learning new plant varieties. She inspired many people with her knowledge and encouraged everyone to plant their own beautiful gardens.
Corine was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Nesheim; her father, Jacob Quanbeck; her mother, Ovidia Quanbeck; her brother, Sherman Quanbeck; and sister-in-law, Loretta Quanbeck.
She is survived by her brother, Edwin Quanbeck; and her nephews, Kurt (Cheryl) Quanbeck, Mark (Heidi) Quanbeck; and niece, Kaye (Dale) Effertz.
