Carrie E. (Orvis) Hauge, age 97, resident of Grafton, ND, formerly of Dahlen, ND, died Friday, December 10, 2021 at Unity Medical Center in Grafton.
Carrie Ellen Rude, daughter of Nels and Alma (Randklev) Rude, was born January 3, 1924, in Dahlen, ND. She was baptized, confirmed, and was a lifetime member of the Dahlen Lutheran Church. She grew up in Dahlen and attended Dahlen school. In the summer of 1941, she attended Home Economics school at UND as part of the National Youth Administration initiative, after which she returned to Dahlen to live and work. In 1941, she married Ervin R. Orvis at International Falls, MN, where they lived and worked for a time in the lumber and pulpwood industries. In the spring of 1942, Carrie and Ervin moved back to Dahlen where Ervin worked for various people until he was drafted into the army in the fall. A son, Ervin R. Orvis Jr. was born September 7, 1942. Ervin senior was killed in action during the battle of Normandy (WWII) and is buried in France. In 1947, Carrie married Alvin Hauge with whom, on June 7, 1948, she had a daughter, Karlene. They later divorced. In August of 2002, Carrie moved to Fargo to be closer to her daughter, Karlene. Following the death of her son, in 2007, she moved to Park River, ND to be close to her sisters, Gladys Rude and Nettie Offerdahl.
Carrie was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husbands, son, daughter, grandson, and all siblings.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Kerri (Holen) Willert; honorary son and daughter, Doug and Judy Tufte; and many loved nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Service will be held at the Dahlen Lutheran Church, Dahlen, ND, on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery, rural Dahlen. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
