Blanche L. Ericksrud

Blanche L. Ericksrud, age 96, resident of Devils Lake, ND, formerly of Lakota, ND, died Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Blanche Laura Johnson was born June 28, 1924 at rural Bartlett, ND, the daughter of Anton and Cora Blanche (Sorenson) Johnson.  She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in January of 1925 at Noonan, ND, and confirmed at Hoff Lutheran Church, rural Brocket, ND.  She attended 10 grades at Cleveland Consolidated School in Clara Township, Nelson County; one year at Lakota High School; and graduated from Noonan High School, Noonan, ND.  Blanche married Hollis McLeod “Mack” Ericksrud on October 12, 1942 at Lakota.  They farmed north of Lakota, moving into Lakota in October of 1978 but continued to farm.  Mack passed away May 13, 1995.  Blanche was a member of Lakota Lutheran Church, a leader of the Modern Miss 4-H Club, a member of the Cleveland Homemakers, ALCW, and Eastern Star, having served as Worthy Matron.  She was also a member of Willing Workers, Senior Citizens, Card Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #21.  Blanche worked at Miller’s Wheel Inn, was Clerk and Deputy County Auditor of Nelson County, and a CNA at the Lakota Good Samaritan Home.

Blanche is survived by 3 children, Gary Ericksrud of Devils Lake, ND, Sandra (Ken) Weaver of Munich, ND, and Richard (Sharon) Ericksrud of New York Mills, MN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Elvin Johnson, Clifford (Lilah) Johnson, and Larry (Pat) Johnson; 1 sister, Lucille Tufte; a sister-in-law, Irene Johnson; and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Curtis; and brother, Willis Johnson.

Funeral Services for Blanche will be private, with burial in the Lakota Cemetery.
