Avis L. Aamot

Avis Aamot, age 91, resident of Lakota, ND, died Monday, August 29, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota.

Avis L. Sateren was born September 8, 1930 on the family farm near McVille, ND, the daughter of Melvin and Anne (Christianson) Sateren.  She was raised and worked on the family farm while attending school in the area.  Avis married Leonard Aamot on May 1, 1955.  She worked in the laundry department of the Lakota Good Samaritan Center for 23 years.  She enjoyed being a mother, homemaker, and polka music; as she and Leonard attended many dances and polkafests.

Avis will be deeply missed by her husband, Leonard Aamot of Lakota; 5 sons, Daryl of Bayfield, CO, Keith (special friend, Maxine Lammers) of Wahpeton, ND, Kent (Lenee) of Grand Forks, ND, Kevin (Connie) of Breckenridge, MN, and Curtis (Kathy) of Crookston, MN; 6 grandchildren, Jeff Aamot, Shelby Aamot, Sara Aamot, Tyler Erdman, Chris Erdman, and Nick Erdman; 4 great grandchildren, Rush, Chesney, Oaklyn, and Clayton; and 3 nephews, Randy McMillin, Gary McMillin, and Duane McMillin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Larry; and her brother, Marvin Sateren.

Services for Avis will be held at Lakota Lutheran Church on Friday, September 2, 2022.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon.  The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial in the Center Lutheran Cemetery, rural McVille, ND.
