Alma A. Johnson

Alma A. Johnson, age 99, resident of McVille, ND, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille.

Alma Aronia Anderson was born February 23, 1922 at McVille, ND, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Berwick) Anderson.  She was raised and educated in McVille, graduating high school in 1940.  Alma married Ernest Johnson on April 28, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural McVille.  Four children brought joy to Alma and Ernie, they are Steven (Carol) of Worthing, SD, Robert (Bette) of Jamestown, ND, Donald (Cathy) of Grand Forks, ND, and Mary (David) Hjelden of Grand Forks, ND.  They lived on the farm and raised there family together.  She began working as a Nurses Aide at the hospital, a career she truly enjoyed.  She and Ernest moved into town in 1974.  Alma was a member of New Luther Valley Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, and also a life member of the McVille American Legion Auxiliary.

Alma is survived by her 4 children and their spouses; 8 grandchildren, Nicole Reynolds, Marc Johnson, Stephanie Lewis, Kalyn Maulding, Diana Kouba, Corey Johnson, Kristi Breaux, and Jeremy Lilleoien; 3 step-grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her brother, Hjalmer Anderson; and a step-grandson, Matthew Hjelden.

The Funeral Service for Alma will be held at New Luther Valley Lutheran Church, McVille, ND, on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery, rural McVille.  Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
