Pearl (Taylor) Maessel, 81, of Aneta, ND passed away December 23, 2018 at her home. The youngest of nine children, she was born September 13, 1937 to Edith Swindler and George Taylor in Arkansas where she spent her childhood. In the 1950s, she moved to Sacramento, CA. She attended college in Los Angeles where she received her Licensed Vocational Nursing certification.
Pearl was united in marriage to Donald C. Maessel, Sr. in 1963. The couple raised three children, Gay Rosewaren, Donna Wolfensberger (Los Angeles), and Donald Maessel, Jr. She and her husband settled in Torrance, CA where she worked as a nurse until her retirement in 2002. Pearl moved to Pekin, ND in 2002, and then to Aneta in 2015.
Pearl will join her husband and daughter, Gay, in eternal peace and rest. She was a strong woman who would do anything for anyone who needed her. She will be going home to be buried with her husband in California. Grandma Pearl will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Pearl is survived by her step-daughter Donna Wolfensberger, step-son Donald C. Maessel, Jr, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband Donald C. Maessel Sr., daughter Gay Rosewaren, parents Edith Swindler and George Taylor, brothers James Taylor, Haskel Taylor, and Jim Taylor, sisters Irene Taylor, Daisy Taylor, Myrtle Graves, Bernice Felstram, and Christine Pruitt.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille, ND.
