Michael Joseph Heinz

Michael Joseph Heinz, age 66, resident of Ellendale, ND, formerly Cooperstown passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Sanford on Broadway in Fargo, ND.

Michael was born on February 1, 1952 in the Cooperstown Hospital to Frank and Arlene (Pfeifer) Heinz.  He grew up and graduated high school in Cooperstown.  He attended Moorhead State and North Dakota State University before returning home to farm.  He married LuAnn Renee Urness at the Trinity Lutheran Church on October 5, 1973.  They were married for 45 years.  Michael’s passion in life was farming.  Even if he wasn’t actively farming, it never left his mind.  He was proud of his daughters and all of his grandchildren.  He was a member and officer of the Jessie Wildlife Club, an ASCS board member, a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and a member of the Pork Producers Council.  Michael prided himself in taking care of his farm and keeping a spotless vehicle.  He always took care of what he had and instilled this value in his children and grandchildren.

Surviving members of the family include his wife LuAnn Heinz of Ellendale, ND, daughters Tiffany (Craig) Briss of Cooperstown, ND, Wendy Willprecht of Forman, ND and Mindy (Cory) Hiatt of Kasson, MN, 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Rylan and Kaylyn Briss, Austin, Fletcher, Charlize and Krosby Willprecht, Reese, Alexandra and Henry Hiatt, parents Frank and Arlene Heinz of Cooperstown, ND, along with siblings Jeffery, Brenda and Barbara.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A time of gathering for friends and family will be held at the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel on Sunday, January 20, 2019 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
