Manley M. Miller

April 3, 1939 ~ April 12, 2008 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Manley M. Miller, age 69, resident of Cooperstown , ND , formerly Binford , ND died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo , ND.

Manley was born April 3, 1939 in McVille , ND the son of Gilman and Clarice (Olson) Miller. He attended country school and helped with farming on the family farm. Manley was employed at Russ Buick in Fargo before joining the Army on November 28, 1961 and completed his basic training at Fort Carson , CO . He then went to Ft Hood, TX and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Upon leaving the military on September 3, 1963 he worked at a missile site at Cooperstown . He married Carol Briss on June 18, 1965 . They resided in Binford and he worked at Melroe in Cooperstown . They moved to the Henry Miller farm by Binford in 1973 where he farmed until 1997. Manley and Carol were members of Bethany Free Lutheran Church in Binford where Manley served on the church council. He began driving transport truck for Farmers Oil/Bloom Oil of Cooperstown. Manley and Carol moved to Cooperstown in 2001 and eventually he started driving truck for Strand Redi-Mix in Cooperstown . He was employed with Western Co-op of Montevideo, MN when he was diagnosed with cancer in October of 2007. He began chemotherapy treatments at Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo.

Manley had many loves in his life. His first love was his wife, children and grandchildren. His second love(s) were driving his truck, flying his airplane and taking pictures. He was very proud of being a licensed private pilot and it was very hard for him when he thought he wouldn't be able to do those things again. He made wonderful memories for his grandchildren and others by taking them for airplane rides. Through the years he took his son and Grandsons to many fly-in-breakfasts and air shows. They have many wonderful memories doing that with him. Wherever he went he usually had his camera close by so thanks to him we can look back at all those wonderful memories. Manley was currently serving as Commander of the Jonas A. Helland Legion Post #111.

We will greatly miss having our husband, dad and grandpa here with us but know that he is in the arms of our heavenly father, free of sickness and pain. We thank God for the time we had with him to let him know how much we loved him.

Manley in survived by his loving wife Carol of Cooperstown, ND; his daughter Laura (Bryan) Ohlhauser of Brocket, ND; his grandchildren, Amber, Justin, Adam & Jessica; mother Clarice Miller of Michigan, ND; 3 brothers Virgil (Lynn) of Portland, OR, Ronnie of Grand Forks, ND and Myron (Kathy) of West Fargo, ND; 1 sister Grace (Myron) Schiller of Michigan, ND and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
