Welcome to the memorial page for

Lloyd H. Keck

September 3, 1932 ~ November 26, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Lloyd Harold Keck, age 85, of Edmore, ND, passed away at the Park River Good Samaritan Society on Sunday, November 26, 2017, where he had been a resident for the past 2 weeks. He had been a resident of the Edmore Memorial Rest Home for the past 3 A½ years.

Lloyd was born September 3, 1932 at Crary, ND in the family home with a midwife, the 4th son of Charles Edward and Pearl (Smith) Keck. He attended Crary Public School through 8th grade and then farmed with his dad. He married Arlene Mavis Hegg on February 20, 1956 in Goodrich, MN. Dad always said it was one of the coldest days of the year, -20 some degrees. They eloped, he borrowed his brother Glenn’s car and drove to his brother John’s in Thief River Falls, MN. John and Alice stood up for them.

Dad had many jobs: farmed the family farm until 1965, then we moved to Edmore where he became a police officer for a few years. Then he was the janitor at the Edmore School until about 1974, and also was the city judge for a few years. He then became a fireman at the Nekoma Missile Base, later transferring to the Cavalier PAR site, retiring around 1998. He had the water and sewer business for many years. He volunteered with the Edmore Fire and Ambulance Service, was a mason, and a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He would always lend a helping hand to anyone that needed help. He loved to work in his garage, garden, geraniums, cats, listening to the Twins play, and his favorite color was blue. His favorite pastime was to sit outside in his lawn chair and enjoy the sun, waving as everyone drove by with a cup of coffee in hand and a cat in his lap.

Lloyd is survived by his children, Debbie Anderson and Dean Keck, both of Edmore, and Holly (Brett) Charon of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Alicia (Bert) Jordan of Grand Forks and Shawn (Emily) Anderson of Devils Lake; great grandson, Marcus Jordan; sisters-in-law, Alice Keck of Warren, MN and Eloise (Gary) Robertson of Grand Forks; extended family, Darren, Melissa, and Nicholas Anderson of Devils Lake; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Arlene (Dec. 18, 1996); his parents; 3 brothers, John, Glenn, and Charles; son-in-law, Mark Anderson; brothers-in-law, Burnell Hegg and Howard Hegg; sisters-in-law, Dolores Keck and Helyn Keck.

We, the family of Lloyd, would like to thank the Edmore Memorial Rest Home and the Park River Good Samaritan, for all the wonderful care he received; Concordia Lutheran Church, for the support and love; Pastor Don & Pastor Jodi, for all their work in the ministry; and last but not least, the Edmore community, for all of their support all these years.

The Funeral Service for Lloyd will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church of Edmore, on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Edmore Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
