Larry G Wold

Larry Gene Wold, age 77, of Fargo, formerly Binford, ND, passed away on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018 in his home under Hospice care.

He was born on November 5, 1940 in McVille, ND to Donald and Edna (Storkson) Wold. He grew up in Binford and graduated from Binford High School in 1958.  Larry attended and graduated from Mayville State University in 1962 with a degree in history and coaching.  He went on to teach and coach in Martin, ND from 1962-65. On December 12th, 1965, Larry married the love of his life Patsy Carline Jensen. They moved back to Binford in 1966 where he raised his family, taught history, coached, became high school principal and instructed drivers ed. He retired from teaching in 1998. After spending about a year in the hospital, Larry was given the gift of life, a new heart, on May 8, 2000.  In July of 2000, Larry and Patsy made their final home in Fargo being close to all their children and grandchildren. 

Larry was an avid sports fan, from playing basketball and baseball himself, to watching his sons and daughter play basketball, baseball and softball, and then later watching his grandkids’ sports. He enjoyed watching his beloved Cleveland Indians baseball team and was able to see them play at Jacobs Field in 2007. Saturdays and Sundays you could guarantee he would be watching sports on TV or listening to on the radio, especially when the Cleveland Indians were on. Larry was proud when his 1960 Mayville State basketball team was inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame in 2014.  He enjoyed reading, watching westerns, and hunting and fishing. Larry also loved dogs, especially his beloved companion Rex.

Larry leaves behind his wife, Patsy, children and grandchildren, Cary (Jill) Wold, Emma, Dylan & Megan; Kimberly (Tom) Janke, Jennifer & Ava; Bob (Dawn) Wold, Tiffanie & Jordan; and Todd (Kim) Wold, Jack & Owen; sister Betty (Jim) Conklin and brother-in-law, Don Bauer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Donald & Edna and sister Carole Bauer.

Memorial services for Larry will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Binford, ND. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the spring at the Binford Cemetery. Arrangements with the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.
