Jerry Narum, age 71, resident of Michigan, ND, passed away under hospice care on Friday, April 13, 2018 in Fargo, ND, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Jerry, the son of Carl & Betsy (Myhra) Narum, was born in Devils Lake, ND, on December 9, 1946. He was raised on the family farm north of Michigan, ND, and graduated from Michigan High School in 1964. He graduated from NDSU in 1968 with a BS degree in Ag Econ, was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and the social club, Rahjahs. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 7, 1968 and was stationed at Camp Casey in Korea. He was honorably discharged on June 10, 1970. Jerry married Paula Opland on July 1, 1972. They lived and worked in Fargo. In 1977 Jerry & Paula began a new venture, taking over the family farm. Jerry began his last career in 1988 as a claims adjuster for Nodak Insurance. He retired in 2012.
He was a member of Michigan Lutheran Church, the W.L. Cowper Post #238 of the American Legion, Michigan Community Club, and the Michigan Duffers Golf Club. He was an avid reader and toy tractor collector. There were many things that made Jerry proud; serving his country, his family, his friends, and the many friendships with his AGR brothers.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his wife, Paula; 3 children, Todd (Sarah) Narum of Northglenn, CO, Suzanne (Aaron) Haugen of West Fargo, ND, and Lana (Jon) Koski of Fargo, ND; 6 grandchildren, Drew & Beau Narum, Owen & Nora Haugen, and Logan & Charlie Koski; and several cousins.
The Memorial Service will be held at the Michigan Lutheran Church on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Michigan Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
