James "Chip" Drake

James M. “Chip” Drake, age 69, resident of Warwick, ND, formerly of Lakota, ND, died Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota, ND.

James was born in Devils Lake, ND to Eugene and Vivian Drake on November 5, 1948.  He was educated at Lakota High School.  He married Janet “Kalinowski” Drake on January 31, 1970 in Devils Lake, ND and was divorced from Janet in 1980.  He married Jennifer Feather on August 20, 1993 in Devils Lake, ND.  He graduated from Lake Region and the University of North Dakota.  He worked as a teacher in the communities of Harvey, Fort Totten, Lakota, and Warwick, ND for many years.

James is survived by his first wife, Janet “Kalinowski” Drake; his sons, Jason Drake, Justin Drake, Joshua Drake, and his daughter Taylor Moon Drake.  He is also survived by his brother, David Drake; and his sisters, Maribeth Bradley and Dawn Drake.  His grandchildren, Tyler Hageley, Jensen and Connor Drake, and Arielle Pacheco.

James is preceded in death by his father, Eugene; his mother, Vivian; and his second wife, Jennifer.

The family of James M. Drake wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the people that have helped Dad and his family during his trying times the past few months.  Your help and compassion was truly appreciated!!

The Memorial Service will be held Lakota Lutheran Church, Lakota, ND, on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.  Pastor Reuben Schnaidt will officiate.  Burial will follow at the Petersburg Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Lakota Public Library.
