Davis L. Rainsberry, age 87, resident of Michigan, ND, formerly of Lakota, ND, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Davis Leland Rainsberry, the youngest son of John and Effie (Hem) Rainsberry, was born September 8, 1931 on a farm near Brocket, ND. He started his education at the Cleveland Consolidated School in rural Clara Township. Later he attended school in Brocket and Lakota, graduating from Lakota High School in 1950. From an early age, Davis was involved in the operation of the family farm including milking Holstein cows. He continued farming north of Lakota until he retired. Davis married Ramona Fahey on November 28, 1953 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lakota. They lived on the Rainsberry farm for one year before moving into Lakota, where they lived together for over 58 years.
Davis is survived by sister, Doris Severtson of Grafton, ND; sister-in-law, Clara Rainsberry of Banning, CA; 4 nephews, Jack Rainsberry of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Gary Rainsberry of San Bernardino, CA, Doug Rainsberry of Fontana, CA, and Norris Severtson of Grafton, ND; 4 nieces, Nancy White of Menifee, CA, Bonnie Meabon of Buckeye, AZ, Sharon Rainsberry of Olympia, WA, and Delores Webster of St. Vincent, MN. He will also be missed by his playful friend, his cat, “Turkey”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ramona; and brothers, John, Les, and Ralph.
Services will be Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Aaker Funeral Home in Lakota, ND with visitation beginning at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the spring at Lakota Cemetery.
