Dale C. Kleven

Dale C. Kleven, Aneta, ND, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood, ND. He was 93 years of age.

Dale C. Kleven was born in Crookston, MN on Sept 8, 1925, the only son of Alice (Berg) and Johannes Kleven.  As a child he lived in Minnesota, south of Lakota, ND, and finally Aneta, ND.

He grew to manhood in Aneta, and served in WWII where he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge.  After his discharge, he returned to Aneta, and on June 23, 1946 he married Dorothy Hillesland.  They made their home in Aneta where they raised their 5 sons.  Dale worked various jobs until 1954 when he went to work for the State Highway Department where he stayed for the next 44 years.  After he retired, he drove the van for Aneta Retirement Home for 10 years; finally hanging it up at the age of 84.  Dale and Dorothy enjoyed camping for many years.  He was also an avid grouse and pheasant hunter all his life.  Dale will be sorely missed by his sons and many friends.  He was a good husband, father, and person.  At last he is reunited with the love of his life Dorothy, who passed away in 2013.

Dale is survived by his sons, John (Ginny) of Jamestown, Jim of Aneta, Jerry (Patty) of Grand Forks, Jason (Ann) of Cando, and Jody of Aneta; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Shirley McKenzie. 

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, and infant son.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Sundahl Lutheran Church, Aneta, ND.  Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church and will continue one hour before services on Friday.  Interment will be in the spring at Silent Hill Cemetery, Aneta, ND.  Military honors will be provided by Edward A. Broberg American Legion Post #16, Aneta, ND.
