Clara L. Frederikson

Clara L. Frederikson, age 92, resident of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Petersburg, ND, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Woodside Village in Grand Forks.

Clara Louise Severson was born November 15, 1925 in Adler Township of Nelson County, near Petersburg, ND, the daughter of Einar and Kari (Rusten) Severson.  She was raised on her parent’s farm, and was baptized & confirmed at Lom Lutheran Church.  She attended Adler Township School and Petersburg High School, graduating in 1945.  She then worked in the general store.  Clara married Lloyd Frederikson on October 22, 1950 at Petersburg in a double ceremony with her brother, Paul and Delores.  They made their home and raised 6 children in Petersburg.  In 1972, Clara purchased and operated the Hartz Grocery Store in Petersburg for a few years.  She then cooked at the school for approximately 10 years.  Clara then worked as a clerk for Joyce Iverson at the Hartz store until her retirement.  Lloyd died March 7, 1994.  Clara loved to curl in her younger years, and also enjoyed dancing.  More recently, she enjoyed playing family games, cards, and bingo.  She loved to make lefse with her sister, June Sundre.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Petersburg Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide.  She also taught Sunday school and Junior Lutherans.

Clara will be missed by her children, Denny (Cheri) Frederikson of Minneapolis, MN, Alvin Frederikson of Grand Forks, Debra (James) Bailey of Greenwater, WA, Carla (John) Kellner of Grand Forks, David (Susie) Frederikson of Grand Forks, and Rev. Sherri Frederikson of Binford, ND; 6 grandchildren, Kari (Paul) Ekhoff, Andrew (Jessica) Frederikson, Tim Kellner, Trent Kellner, Chris Sebjornson, and Jeff Sebjornson; 7 great-grandchildren, Kjerstin, Wil & Evie Ekhoff, and Isaac, Nissa, Elin & Avi Frederikson; 1 brother, Norman Severson of Petersburg; 1 brother-in-law, Gerald Morkrid of Thief River Falls, MN; 1 sister-in-law, Iva Schaefer of Grand Forks; and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; 3 brothers, Leonard, Paul, and Vernon; and 2 sisters, Ann Morkrid and June Sundre.

The Funeral Service will be held at Petersburg Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in the Petersburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
