Bruce Klefstad Obituary

Bruce Lee Klefstad died October 8th, 2019 at Altru Hospital surrounded by his family.

Bruce was born July 18, 1957 at McVille to Arnot and Mercedes (Messner) Klefstad. He was raised on the family farm rural Pekin and attended school in Pekin and then later Tolna. After high school Bruce attended Wahpeton College briefly, lived in Colorado where worked in construction for a couple of years and then lived inGrassy Butte where he worked in the oil fields. It was there he met Sherry Trotter. They were married in 1984 and moved home to Pekin to farm and have two daughters, Jessica and Andrea. After his farming years he went on to do carpentry, woodwork and cabinetry. He was very particular with his work and loved to make frames for Annie’s art work. He was such a gentle soul with an infectious smile who would do almost anything for anyone. He was very quiet but could make anyone laugh. He had a knack for looking for unique rocks which he passed on to his grandkids and has jars upon jars full to prove it. He always teased he was going to have to have gravel hauled in to cover the driveway again because they brought him every rock they thought he would like. He liked to go to town for a root beer and shake-a-day and chat with friends a few evenings a week. He liked to have bonfires, listen to records in his record room, take his grandkids for tractor rides or just go for drives to check out the country side. Most often you could find him in his chair watching his favorite tv shows The Golden Girls or The Andy Griffith Show and that was his happy place. He also had a heartfelt interest in our family history and was the go-to guy when anyone had questions. He spent as much time as he could with his grandkids Jace, Nash, Judd and Madison.

He will be incredibly missed by his daughters Jessica and Andrea, grandchildren Jace, Nash, Judd and Madison, his beloved dogs Tipsy and Dolly, siblings Betty Ann Bina, Judy (John) Bata, Linda (Craig) Halvorson, Alan (Gayle) Klefstad, Sheila Halvorson, Lanny (Tammy) Klefstad and Marsha (David) Hendrickson.

Preceded in death by his parents Arnot and Mercedes, brother and sister-in-law Stuart and Cecelia, brother-in-law Tim Halvorson, brother-in-law Duane Bina and nephew Justin Klefstad.
