Audrey Lapping Obituary

Audrey May Lapping, age 86, of Binford, ND passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on Thursday, July 5, 2018.  She was the loving wife of John A. Lapping.  They would have celebrated 39 years of marriage on August 25th.  She was born in East Stroudsburg, PA to the late Howard K. & Edna G. (Cramer) Halterman on September 10, 1931.

She graduated from East Stroudsburg High School, class of 1949.  She attended Churchman Business School after graduation.  In her early years she worked at Bigg’s Restaurant, Stroudsburg Gas Co., Ronson Corp., Penn Hills Resort, Mel Manufacturing & Lawton Huffman Air Conditioning.

In 1978 they moved out of the Pocono’s to Justice W.V. to do a project on R.D. Bailey Dam for the Corp of Engineers.  In 1980 they moved to Colorado with John’s management position with Adolf & Peterson Co. where they lived in many towns & cities throughout Colorado.  She worked various secretarial & sales positions as they traveled in their 5th wheel RV from area to area in Colorado.

After retiring in October 2007 to Binford, ND she enjoyed fixing up their home & growing many flowers in the summertime.  Her yard was always so beautiful with all the flowers and decorations.  She also kept busy with reading, crocheting & playing on her tablet.  She was a very avid Doll & Teddy Bear collector.

In addition to her beloved husband, John, she is survived by two daughters, Judy Bush of Stroudsburg, PA, Rita VanWhy of Saylorsburg, PA and 3 sons Melvin Fish (Eleanor) of Analomink, PA, Ronald Fish (Joy) of Wooddale East Stroudsburg, PA & William Lapping of North Carolina.  Grandchildren: Denise Robbins (Jody) Stroudsburg, PA, Dawn Leininger of Binford, ND, Christopher Bush of Tannersville, PA, Heather Cramer (Chad) Stroudsburg, PA, Lindsey Fish of Analomink, PA, David Fish of Philadelphia, PA, Brad VanWhy (Michelle) Mt. Pocono, PA, Kimberly Peters (Jake) Conshohocken, PA, Michael Lapping, Shannon Kennedy (Mitchell), Patrick Lapping (Laurie), Erin Shay (Michael), Sarah Lapping, Thomas (J.T.) Lapping all of East Stroudsburg, PA. 12 great-grandchildren.  Two Sisters: Beverly Batchler of Analomink, PA & Patricia Davies of Cedar Key, FL. 

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son Thomas J. Lapping and two brothers-in-law, James Batchler & Raymond Davies.

Cremation was private, and currently there is no scheduled service.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the Hospice staff and volunteers out of McVille, ND.  The Binford community, Binford Ambulance and friends that, were very supportive in a time of need, and especially her granddaughter Dawn who took extra special care of her.
