Amie M. Aaser, age 93, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away at Ecumen on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at McVille Lutheran Church, McVille, ND, on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Center Lutheran Cemetery, rural McVille.
Amie Marie, the daughter of Martin and Gina (Thorson) Flaagan, was born May 9, 1926 near Pekin, ND. On December 5, 1944, she was united in marriage to Clayton Aaser in McVille, ND. Amie worked in an ammunition factory in Nebraska when they were first married. The couple then moved back to McVille. She also worked at the Johnson Store in McVille. Mostly she worked by Clayton's side on the family farm. She was active in the Center Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.
She is survived by 4 children: Roslyn Helgeson of Faribault, MN, Zelda (Duane) Bellefeuille of Detroit Lakes, MN, Robert of Bullhead City, AZ, and Jackie (Lynn) Gudmundson of Clear Lake, SD. Three grandchildren: Angie (Shannon) Monroe of Moorhead, MN, Joshua Gudmundson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Dillon (Alexis) Gudmundson of Watertown, SD; and four great grandchildren, Meghan Monroe and Justin Monroe of Moorhead, MN, Nixon Gudmundson and Paxlyn Gudmundson of Watertown, SD. Her sisters-in-law, Connie (Kenneth) Flaagan and Katherine (Alfred) Holweger.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton; 1 daughter, Deborah; 4 brothers, Benard, Gordon, Gilman, and Kenneth Flaagan; and 2 sisters, Irene and Erva Spidahl; 5 brothers-in-law, Ernie and Arnold Spidahl, Mylo, Einor, and Leo Aaser; and son-in-law, Richard Helgeson.
Amie has lived at Independent Living at the Madison in Detroit Lakes for the past 10 years. She had many friends there and enjoyed participating in sing-alongs, playing Skip-Bo and Bingo, and being close to her daughter, Zelda.
