Vardon M. Quanbeck, age 86, resident of McVille , ND passed away Monday, December 24, 2007 at the Nelson County Health System - Hospital in McVille , ND.

Mr. Quanbeck was born August 6, 1921 to Henry T. & Irene Quanbeck in McVille, ND where he grew up and attended school, graduating from McVille High School in 1939. He attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis , MN . He worked on the construction of the Alaskan Highway in the early 1940's and later for an oil exploration company in Texas . In 1947 he was called home due to his father's illness to assist with the family insurance business. He purchased the business from his father in 1956 and ran it until his retirement in 1983. He married Marilyn Gisselquist on February 14, 1976 . He lived all his life in McVille except for about 5 years in the 1940's. Over the years he was an active member of the local fire department, commercial club, hospital board, farmers elevator board, Community Lanes, McVille Development, Inc., New Luther Valley Lutheran Church and New Luther Valley Cemetery Association, and also served as city auditor for a number of years.

Surviving members of the family are his wife Marilyn of McVille, ND; one step daughter; 2 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren.

Vardon was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Lou.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 2:30 PM in the New Luther Valley Lutheran Church in McVille , ND.  Officiating will be the Reverend Lynn Kinneberg.  Organist will be Margaret Johnson and soloist will be Dale Quanbeck.   Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2007 from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to services in the church. Spring interment will be in the New Luther Valley Cemetery , rural McVille , ND . Arrangements with the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home of McVille.
