Thelma Jeanette Martinson, 98, died on Friday, November 7, 2008 at the
Nelson County Health System - Care Center , McVille , ND .

Thelma Jeanette Martinson was born January 20, 1910 on the family farm near
Pekin , ND to Tobias and Anna (Quam) Ensrud.  She graduated from Pekin High
School in 1928 and from Trinity School of Nursing in Minot , ND in 1932.  She
was a nurse at McVille Community Hospital and also provided private duty
nursing care.

On July 14, 1935 she was united in marriage to Orlando Martinson of McVille,
ND.  They farmed in the McVille area for several years.  In 1979 they moved
into McVille , ND .  Orlando died August 4, 1982 .  In 2006 Thelma moved into
the Nelson County Care Center , McVille ND .  Thelma retired early from her
nursing career however she continued to be a dedicated and compassionate
caregiver to all.

She will be greatly missed and remembered by her three children, Joette
(James) Marback, Fargo, ND, Wesley Martinson and Pauline (Odin) Kvamme,
Grand Forks, ND; six grandchildren, Julie (Doug)Thorstad and Lori (Michael)
Jandro, Fargo, ND, Richard (Pam) Marback, Myrtle Beach, SC, Steven (Pam)
Marback, Marlene (Paul) Augustin, Michael (Shari) Elgin all of Grand Forks,
ND; ten great-grandchildren, Jason and Joseph Thorstad, James, Stacy, Kyle,
Kelsey Jandro, Brittany Chepulis, Jennifer Marback, Justin and Sara Elgin;
one brother, Victor (Gladys) Ensrud and one brother-in-law, Elmer Pederson.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Brian Martinson, four brothers, Magnus, Julius, Henry and Myron Ensrud and four sisters, Mabel Avdem, Mrytle Ensrud, Alice Johnson and Inez Pederson.

Funeral Services for Thelma will be Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pekin Lutheran Church , Pekin , ND .  Officiating will be Reverend David Nichols.  Organist will be Ellen Burthold.  Soloist will be Paul Odden.   Casketbearers will be Richard Marback, Steven Marback, Michael Elgin, Paul Augustin, Michael Jandro and Douglas Thorstad.  Visitation will be Monday, November 10, 2008 from 3 PM to 7 PM in the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be at the Pekin Cemetery , Pekin , ND . Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille , ND .
