In Loving Memory...


Signe Eikom

Signe Constance Eikom, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Nelson County Health System-Hospital in McVille, ND .

 

She was born January 16, 1922, to Carl and Jennie (Hovdenes) Lundberg, on the family homestead north of Tolna. She attended country school in the Tolna area, graduating from Tolna High School in 1939.The following year Signe attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota .

 

Her love of children would see her teaching school in the Tolna and Pekin area for several years, and teaching Sunday school at her church.

 

After a long courtship through correspondence with her loving soldier serving in the United States Army, Signe and Anthony Eikom would join together in marriage on April 17, 1946. Anthony and Signe lived and farmed in the rural Hamar area all their lives.

 

She was a long-time member of the Sigdal Lutheran Church and very active in church activities. Signe's hobbies included sewing, quilting for her family and Lutheran World Relief, crocheting, gardening and baking.

 

Signe is survived by her husband, Anthony; daughters, Carol (Albin) Warling of Audubon, MN, Mary (Joel) Eikomstead of Fargo, ND, and sons, Randy (Sharon) Eikom of Tolna, ND, Roger (Marilee) Eikom of Tolna, ND, and Daniel (Inez) Eikom of Eagan, MN; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and a son, Rance Eikom.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday December 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Tolna, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Sigdal church cemetery. Arrangements with Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home.
