Severin
Larson, age 78, resident of McVille, ND, died Friday,
May 14, 2010 at the Nelson County Health System Hospital
in McVille.
Severin
Irving Wold Larson was born August 29, 1931 in rural
Pekin, ND, the son of Ole and Jesse (Clauson) Larson.
He was raised near Hamar, ND, and attended country schools
in the area. He moved with his family to McVille and
graduated in 1950 from McVille High School. He served
in the U.S. Air Force 601st Unit from 1951 – 1954 and
was stationed for 2 years in Germany. He returned home
to operate the family farmstead. Severin married Betty
Wagner on June 10, 1958 at Richardton, ND. He was a
member of the Sheyenne Lutheran Church, the Farmers
Union Board, the Hamlin Township Board, and the Sheyenne
Valley Electric Co-op Board of Directors for 12 years.
Severin sold Vigertone Feed and Cargill Seed for many
years. In recent years, Severin worked at Home of Economy
in Grand Forks for 5 years and also for Hoverson Farms
at Larimore from 2001 – 2006. He enjoyed his daily coffee
crowd at Cenex and traveling.
Severin
is survived by his wife, Betty Larson of McVille; 2
sons, Charles (Scotti) Larson of McVille and Tom Larson
of rural Pekin; 3 grandchildren, Erin Larson of Grand
Forks, Danielle (Shannon) Rosewarren of Carrington,
and Kelly Larson of McVille; 2 brothers, Vincent Larson
of Lake Stevens, WA, and Jerry Larson of Kenmore, WA;
and a brother-in-law, Curtis Homme of Anchorage, AK.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Naomi
Homme; and his daughter, Dawn Larson-Becherl.
The
Memorial Service for Severin will be held at the Sheyenne
Lutheran Church, rural Pekin, on Tuesday, May 18, 2010
at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend David
Nichols. The organist will be Betty Bina and the soloist
will be Dale Quanbeck. Interment will be in the church
cemetery. The honorary bearers will be Jerry Sand, Dennis
Stenson, Morris Aaser, Norman Forde, Elmer Bakke, Larry
Johnson, and Clarence Flohaug. Visitation will be held
at the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the
time of service.
