Raleigh M. Anderson, age 88, resident of Grand Forks, ND, formerly Tolna, ND passed away at Altru Health System in Grand Forks, ND on Sunday, October 5, 2008.

Raleigh was born July 27, 1920 in Forde Township , Nelson County, ND to Carl Adolph and Bella (Ensrud) Anderson. He grew up and attended school in rural Tolna. He started farming with his father and took over the family farm when his father died in 1944. Raleigh married Molfried Hegvick on June 26, 1948 . After their marriage they lived and farmed in rural Tolna. Raleigh retired from active farming in 1975. They moved to Glenfield , ND where they purchased and operated the gas station. In 1979 they moved to McVille , ND . While in McVille, Raleigh worked for the Nelson County Highway Department and Wilrich Manufacturing Company. The couple moved to Devils Lake , ND and served as house parents for a state group home. They returned to McVille and Tolna for several years before moving to Grand Forks where they have lived since. Raleigh loved spending time with his family and visiting with friends. He liked telling a good joke and following current events. He would gather his information from reading several newspapers and was very interested in learning new things.

Raleigh will be missed and remembered by his wife Molfried of Grand Forks, ND; his daughter Lorray (Joe) Dervin of Tempe, AZ; his son Connley (Sheila) Anderson of Thompson, ND; 2 grandchildren Jarod Anderson and Carrie (Eric) Voightman; 3 great grandchildren Jacob Anderson, Kalyn Voightman and Colin Voightman; 2 sisters Viola Flaagan of McVille, ND and Lila Hermanson of McVille, ND; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Raleigh was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters; Agnes Blankenship and Aleda Snortland.

Funeral services for Raleigh will be Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Sigdal Lutheran Church , rural Tolna , ND . Visitation will be Wednesday, October 8, 2008 from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home of McVille, ND and continue one hour prior to services in the church.  Officiating will be Deloris Enstad.   Organist will be Diane Hoveskeland.  Casketbearers will be Dwight Arlien, Duane Flaagan, Harvey Hegvick, LuAllen Hegvick, Dennis Holm and Keith Snortland.  Interment will be in the Sigdal Church Cemetery .
