Molfried
T. Anderson, age 89, resident of Grand Forks, ND, formerly
Tolna, ND, died on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Woodside
Village in Grand Forks, ND.
Molfried
was born November 30, 1920 in rural Binford, ND to Magnus
T. and Gunda M. (Hanstad) Hegvick. She grew up and attended
school near Binford. After school she moved to Minneapolis,
MN where she worked in a boarding house. She also worked
for the Boeing Company of Seattle, WA on the assembly
line building B17 and B29 aircraft during WWII. Later
she worked as a nurse's aide in the McVille Hospital.
Molfried married Raleigh Anderson on June 26, 1948 at
West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Binford, ND. After
their marriage they lived and farmed in rural Tolna.
Molfried still had an interest in nursing, and worked
as a nurse's aide during the winters of 1960-1963 in
Mesa and Chandler, AZ. They retired from farming in
1975, and moved to Glenfield, ND where they purchased
and operated a gas station and café. In 1979
they moved to McVille, ND. Molfried and Raleigh moved
to Devils Lake, ND and served as house parents for a
state group home. They returned to McVille and Tolna
for several years before moving to Grand Forks, ND.
Molfried lived at Woodside Village since February 2007.
Raleigh died on October 5, 2008.
Molfried
enjoyed caring for family and friends, her grandchildren,
embroidery, singing in the church choir, reading poetry,
playing piano, and card games. She also spent time corresponding
with her mother's family in Norway over the decades,
including her cousin, Inga, and recently, Vidar Aaen.
She was always happy to welcome Vidar to North Dakota
when he visited.
Molfried
will be missed and remembered by her daughter Lorray
(Joe) Dervin of Tempe, AZ; her son Connley (Sheila)
Anderson of Thompson, ND; 2 grandchildren Jarod Anderson
of Kloten, ND and Carrie (Eric) Voightman of Wahpeton,
ND; 4 great grandchildren Jacob Anderson, Kalyn, Colin,
and Kelsey Voightman; sisters-in-law Viola Flaagan of
McVille, ND and Evelyn Hegvick of Fargo, ND, along with
several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Molfried
was preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh, her husband
of 60 years, 2 sisters Margit Arlien and Helga Holm,
and 5 brothers Carl, Carl Norman, George, Louis, and
Jarl.
Funeral
services for Molfried will be Wednesday, May 26, 2010
at 11:00 AM in the Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Tolna,
ND. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 4
PM to 7 PM in the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home of McVille,
ND and continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment will be in the Sigdal Cemetery .
