Leonard Elvin Flaagan, 95, of Tolna , ND passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Nelson County Health System – Hospital in McVille , ND .

Leonard was born February 17, 1914 to Ole and Carrie (Halvorson) Flaagan on their homestead in Forde Township , rural Tolna. Leonard was the last surviving child of Ole & Carrie. He married Daisy Elizabeth Christie on October 6, 1940 . They bought the “ Burns Place ” and lived there until 1949 at which time they moved back to the home place to care for his father. He continued to enjoy his love of farming with his son, David, until retirement and lived out the remainder of his years on the family farm. He was a lifetime member of Sigdal Lutheran Church , rural Tolna. He served on the Tolna School Board and was a lifetime member of the Elks.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 68 years, Daisy; daughters Bonnie, Las Vegas , NV ; Cheryl (Jerry) Forde, Tolna; Carolyn (Ken) Novak, Bismarck; Laurie (Mike) Kelley, Pierre , SD ; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Leonard was preceded in death by his daughter Roberta “Bobbi” Bonnett; sons Charles and David; daughter in law Marsha, infant great granddaughter Maisy Guptil; his parents, brothers Gehard, Odien, Melvin; and sisters Ida Eng and Lorraine Erlandson.

Funeral Services for Leonard will be Friday, June 5, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Sigdal Lutheran Church , rural Tolna , ND . Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Sigdal on Friday June 5, 2009 . Interment will be in the Sigdal Church Cemetery . Arrangements with the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home of McVille.
