Leland
Francis Haabak, age 87, of McVille , ND died on Tuesday, July
10, 2007 at his home.
Leland
was born to Henry and Rachel (Almaas) Haabak on December 9,
1919 at the McVille Hospital . He grew up and attended school
in nearby Kloten , ND . Leland then attended welding school
in Fargo , ND , and went to work for the CCC, ship yard in
Tacoma , Washington . He married Thelma Odde on June 19, 1949
. He moved back to McVille where he hauled gravel. He and
Thelma purchased the Commercial Hotel & Café in
1952. They retired in 1982. Leland was a member of the Valley
Grove Church in Kloten. He enjoyed music, automobiles and
his pets.
Leland
is survived by his wife Thelma of McVille, ND: children Richard
(Gayle) Haabak of McVille, ND, Bonita (Eduardo) Romano of
Chemuyil, Mexico and Marilyn (John) Dehne of Rapid City, SD;
fond grandchildren Megan (Brad), Jesse, LizBeth "Libby", Teddy,
Heather (Tom), Michael and Montgomery; great grandchildren
Anna Mae and Timmy; a brother Ernest (Victoria) Haabak and
many nieces & nephews.
Leland
was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Berdie and
his brother Harry.
Funeral
services will be Friday, July 13, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the New
Luther Valley Lutheran Church in McVille. Visitation will
be Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Stanley-Iverson
Funeral Home in McVille , ND and 1 hour prior to services
in the church. Casketbearers will be Tom Olstad, Teddy Robinette,
Jesse Haabak, Michael Baumgartner, Monty Baumgartner and Brad
Tveit. Honorary Casketbearers will be Megan Tveit, Libby Haabak
and Heather Olstad. Solo performed by Paul Odden, Duet performed
by Alfred Haugen and Robert Knutson with accompanist Virginia
Haugen. Organist will be Margaret Johnson. Interment will
be in the Valley Grove Cemetery , rural Kloten , ND.
