Kermit
Dakken, age 89, resident of Tolna , ND died Sunday,
August 7, 2011 at the Nelson County Health System –
Hospital in McVille.
Kermit
was born June 4, 1922 on the family farm in Forde Township
near Tolna, ND the son of Gilbert and Ida (Thorson)
Dakken. He grew up and attended country school in rural
Tolna. Kermit entered the United States Air Force in
November of 1942. He worked as an airplane mechanic,
serving in the southern pacific. He was honorably discharged
in 1945. Kermit married Betty Mannie on October 14,
1946 in McVille, ND. After their marriage they lived
and farmed in rural Tolna for many years. During his
retirement Kermit started golfing and was proud of the
driving range he built next to the farm.
Kermit
will be missed and remembered by his wife Betty Dakken
of Tolna, ND; daughter Becky Braathen of Tolna, ND;
daughter-in-law Sharon Dakken-Pasche; 4 grandchildren
Shauna Dakken, Sheri Hetler, Dawn Jacobson & Eric
Braathen; 5 great grandchildren Kelli, Caleb & Emma
Hetler, Hunter & Tanner Jacobson; brother Rueben
(Doris) Dakken; along with several cousins, nieces &
nephews.
Kermit
was preceded in death by his parents, son Kelly, 5 sisters
Mildred Jacobson, Sally Eykyn, Myra Schindele, Idella
Tweed & Evelyn Dakken.
Funeral
services for Kermit will be Thursday, August 11, 2011
at 2:00PM in the American Lutheran Church of Tolna,
ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in
the church. Military Honors will be provided by the
American Legion Post #162 of Tolna, ND. Interment will
be in the Tolna Cemetery. Officiating will be
Pastor Russ Christiansen.
