Karen A. Deehr

Karen A. Deehr, age 64, resident of Pekin , ND , died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at the Nelson County Health System Hospital in McVille , ND .

Karen Ann Miller was born October 28, 1943 at Carrington , ND , the daughter of Herman and Hattie ( Ferguson ) Miller. She was raised, attended school, and graduated high school in Carrington. She then attended the ND State School of Science at Wahpeton, ND. She then became a bookkeeper at the bank in Carrington. Karen married Terry A. Deehr on October 3, 1965 at the Kvernes Lutheran Church near Carrington. She worked at the Pekin elevator for a short time before raising her family and moving with Terry's job. She also worked at the elevator in Wing, ND for a short time. In 1981 Karen and Terry settled on their farmstead southwest of Tolna , ND , where she would help Terry with the farm chores. She was also a cook at the Tolna school for a number of years. They moved into Pekin during the late 1990's. Karen loved to read, and was a member of the Pekin Lutheran Church .

Karen will be deeply missed by her husband, Terry Deehr of Pekin, ND; 3 children, Michael (Deb) Deehr of McGuire Air Force Base, NJ, Michelle (Steve) Loibl of Valley City, ND, and Rebecca Deehr of Sioux Falls, SD; 7 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Wallace (Emily) Miller of Carrington, ND, and Milton (Gloria) Miller of Robinson, ND; 2 sisters, Lois Helmer of Bismarck, ND, and Vera (Gary) Kautzman of Carrington, ND; a sister-in-law, Jean Miller of Carrington, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Howard Miller.

A Memorial Service for Karen will be held at the Pekin Community Center of Pekin, ND, on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend David Nichols. The pianist will be Ellen Burthold. Interment will be private at the Pekin Cemetery . Karen donated her body to the UND Medical School .
