Gudrid Josephine Haven, age 92, resident of McVille, ND died December 25, 2010 at the Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille.  

Gudrid was born September 23, 1918 the daughter of John and Bertha (Lundeby) Rimmereid in rural Hamar, ND. She grew in the Lake Washington community of Eddy County, ND where she attended country school. Gudrid was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, rural Tolna, ND. She was a 1936 graduate of Oak Grove High School of Fargo, ND. After school she worked at Ms. Olson's boarding house in Minneapolis as several young ladies from the area had. Gudrid married Rangvald Haven at Gethsemane Lutheran Church on November 2, 1941. The couple farmed in Paradise Township of Eddy County. Rangvald passed away in 1996.

Gudrid was active in Gethsemane church, 4-H, and many community functions. She loved sewing, gardening, and planting trees. She was especially fond of Norway Pines of which hundreds were planted on their farmstead.

Gudrid was preceded in death by her husband Rangvald, parents John and Bertha, brothers Knut and Oliver, and granddaughter Rachel Haven.

Gudrid is survived by her daughter Darlene Haven, Fargo, ND; son Douglas Haven, Newfolden, MN; brothers Daniel (Vivian), New Rockford, ND and Arthur (Charlotte), Maplewood, MN; sister-in-law Clara Loge, St. Regis, MT; granddaughter Emily Haven, Fargo, ND; grandsons Nicholas and Kyle Haven, Newfolden, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Gudrid will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10:00 AM at American Lutheran Church of Tolna, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the church. Spring interment will be in the Gethsemane Cemetery, rural Tolna, ND.
