Gladys J. Loyland, age 91, resident of Fargo, ND, formerly of Kloten, ND, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Gladys Johanna Lende was born February 19, 1917 the daughter of Ludvig and Hertha Lende. She was born and raised in Griggs County, ND, attending school in the area. Gladys married Knute Loyland on January 1, 1947 at Fargo, ND. They lived and farmed near Kloten, ND all of their life. Knute died December 22, 1988 and Gladys continued to live on the farm until September of 1992. She then moved to the West Fargo Cooperative Living Center. She continued living there until 2004, when she moved to assisted living at Bethany Towers in Fargo. After a short hospital stay in October of 2007 she moved into the Bethany Cares Unit where she resided until her death. She was a member of Valley Grove Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid of Kloten.

Gladys will be greatly missed by her son, Bruce (Vickie) Loyland of Thompson, ND; her daughter, Mary Jane (Sam) Rudolf of Fargo, ND; 3 grandchildren, Karla (Mike) Buskirk of West Fargo, ND, Kyle Rudolf of Fargo, ND, and Johanna Loyland of Thompson, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludvig and Hertha Lende; her husband, Knute Loyland; a sister, Alice Sola; and a brother, Lynn Lende.

Gladys' Funeral Service will be held at the McVille Lutheran Church, McVille, ND, on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Marli Danielson. The organist will be Kay Moon. Interment will be in the spring at the Valley Grove Cemetery, rural Kloten. Casketbearers will be Gladys' family. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
