George L. Olson, 83, resident of McVille , ND passed away June 14, 2009 at the Nelson County Health System –Hospital in McVille.

George was born April 28, 1926 in McVille , ND the son of George Sr. and Lesa (Haugen) Olson. He grew up and was educated in McVille. He entered the United States Army on October 20, 1944 and received his honorable discharge on November 20, 1946 . George married Jervis Ensrud on October 6, 1949 . George worked on farms around McVille and also as a drayman. He worked construction, drove school bus and was a dozer operator for Reiten Farms. Jervis passed away December 12, 1993 . George served as caretaker for the McVille Cemetery for the past several years. He was a member of the Ole Semling American Legion Post #135 and the McVille Lutheran Church .

George is survived by his 2 sons Curtis (Peggy Reisenauer) Olson and Bradley (Kathy Foret) Olson, both of McVille , ND . 7 grandchildren Matthew, Tegan, Ashley, Trevor, Ron, Dan & Aaron, along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

George was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Ronnie, daughter Vicki, granddaughter Robin, 2 great grandchildren Allison & Avery, 5 sisters Gena Kjorsvik, Clara Drew, Alice Mootz, Gladyce Olson and Pearl O'Conner, 2 brothers James Olson and Darrel Olson.

Funeral services for George will be Monday, June 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the McVille Lutheran Church . Visitation will be Sunday, June 21, 2009 from 4 PM to 8 PM in the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, and continue one hour prior to services in the church.  Officiating will be Reverend Jessica Merchant.  Organist will be Linda Loe.  Soloist will be Dale Quanbeck.  Casketbearers will be Maynard Loibl, Darrell Moon, Glen Phillips, Robert Bunde, Silas Engebretson, Charles Loe, Elwood Larson and Orvin Hanson.  Interment will be in the McVille Cemetery . Military Honors by the Ole Semling American Legion Post #135 of McVille. Arrangements with the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home.
